Wang Zhongtuo is the academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering who is one of the founders of research and academic degree system of Systems Engineering in China. He is now the director of DUT Knowledge Science and Technology Research Center, a member of National Natural Science Foundation Advisory Committee of China, the vice chairman of the International Society for Knowledge and Systems Science (ISKSS), the chief editor of International Journal of Knowledge and Systems Science, the member of Liaoning Provincial Government Advisory Committee and a member of Dalian Municipal Government Advisory Committee. Also, he served as the director of Institute of Systems Engineering, the first Dean of School of Management (1986-1989) of Dalian University of Technology, a member of the Discipline Review Group for Engineering of Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council for the first three terms, the deputy director of the Computer and Automatic Control Textbook Editorial Committee of the Ministry of Electronic Industry, the vice president of Systems Engineering Society of China(SESC), the president of the Engineering Association of China Software Industry Association, the council member of Chinese Association of Automation(CAA), the council member of Chinese Academy of Management and the member of Editorial Committees of 7 core journals.


In 1984, he was awarded as the first batch of national young and middle-aged technology experts with outstanding contributions. In 1998, he was awarded the National Model Teacher. In 2014, he received the Systems Engineering Lifetime Achievement Award and won the title of Liaoning Model Worker twice and Dalian Model Worker three times. In 2017, he was honored the Fudan Award for Lifetime Achievement in Management Science. In 2020, he was awarded the Special Contribution Award of the Management Science Award.
